Blustery Run….

Due to rain in the forecast for tomorrow I decided to move my long run up to today.

On the schedule 18 miles.

I fueled up with some instant Kashi oatmeal with some almond butter.  And forgot to take a photo.  Oopsie.

I walked the pooch and then headed to the beach.  I saw mention of strong winds but I thought I had seen it for tomorrow….. it was really windy when I got there. I was doing an out and back route along the coast.  As I headed out I was going into a wicked head wind (yes I’m from New England).

The ocean was a bit angry too….

As I was nearing the turn around point I decided to shoot for 20 miles total instead of 18, so ran 10 out and then was very happy to head back….. with a nice tail wind. Along the way I had 3 Just Plain flavored Gu’s.

A couple times during my run I had to stop and stretch my achilles and foot, but I was actually surprised how good my foot and leg felt.

Distance: 20
Time: 3 hours
Avg Pace: 9 min/mile (slower than I would have liked but I think the 10 miles of headwind got me)

On my way home I snacked on a banana & a blueberry Luna bar.

The post long run shower rocks.  I was so happy to get cleaned up after all those miles.

Then time for food!!

LUNCH- Ezekiel english muffin w/ eggs, cheese, salsa, avocado and some plain greek yogurt.

Oh heaven…..

Now off to hang with the hubby and enjoy some dinner.

  1. Good job on the long run! I love runners. We make an 18-miler into a 20-miler and don’t think twice about it :)

I can’t believe how quickly you’re getting back into the swing after surgery – great run!
I might attempt my first post-sickness run today if my husband lets me :)

I am so happy I have been able to jump back into it so soon! I am so happy I was able to do laparoscopic surgery, I cannot imagine what the healing time would have been otherwise.

Of course when I added the mileage I was only have way done, at that moment adding an extra mile out didn’t seem like a big deal…. funny how that happens on an out and back run.
