Hope your weekend is coming to a good close, unless you are one of those lucky ones with the whole week off!
It was definitely a morning that invited you to stay in and hunker down for a bit. We enjoyed the view out our window though.
And how pretty our tree looked with the snowy view.
The snowy morning called for a tasty breakfast treat!
Pumpkin waffles!
And Mickey Pumpkins Waffles at that and with almond & pumpkin butter. Delish!
After breakfast we made some English Muffin Bread and then attempted sugar cookies, until I realized we had no wax paper or parchment…. the recipe I have really requires it for rolling the dough out.
Reggie supervised while we baked.
After coming to a dead end with the sugar cookies, we became slugs for a bit. Eventually we motivated and headed out with a shopping list for a few things we were missing, wax paper! Before hitting the store though we had to make a special delivery and do some wrapping.
TOYS!
The hubby’s office was a drop off for the fire department’s toy drive. So we had to unload it for the 5th time! This time though we joined the “elves’ at their wrapping party. It was so awesome to see SO MANY toys and so many people helping out.
Just a few of the toys……
They were all separated by age groups, with certain special categories like games, dolls, stuffed animals, etc. Between today and last weekend they wrapped toys for over 750 local kids! So awesome! And it wasn’t just one or two toys per child, it was several and on top of that lots of books, craft & school supplies, gift cards, etc.
The elves busy at work.
It was a lot of fun “shopping” for the families we wrapped presents for. Although I questioned how well I know what kids of a certain age want though. Hopefully we picked some good stuff out!
After wrapping we headed to the grocery store. We got our missing supplies and then headed home to finish making cookies. I also tackled some chores as well and the hubby fired up the snowblower to finally clean the driveway.
Next thing I knew it was dark out and I hadn’t gotten a run in. Normally I’m ok with a night run, but the roads aren’t that great yet and the combo of bad roads & darkness just isn’t appealing. I was thinking of heading to the gym, but realized it was closing in half hour. Days like this I wish I had a treadmill. As much as I hate them, they do come in handy!
So instead I sat down and put together my training plan for Boston. This runner needs a game plan. I’m not good at keeping up my mileage if I don’t have a game plan I think. This past week I did a whopping 4 miles, yes that is it. I did of course workout 4 out of 7 days, doing 2 workouts one of those days too…… but still I need more mileage!
I headed over to www.runnersworld.com and used their training application to come up with a marathon plan. I’m 17 weeks out from Boston and their plans only go to 16 weeks, so I’ll just do the first week twice I think. I’ve had good luck using their plans in the past and of course make modifications when I need to.
The info I entered for my plan.
our current race time is: 3:32:00 for a Marathon
Your distance training goal is: Marathon
You currently train: 21 – 25 miles/week (I know slight stretch, 4 miles… 21 miles)
How hard you want to train: Hard
Your long-run day: Sunday
Your training program Starts: Monday, 12/28/2009 and Ends: Sunday, 4/19/2010
Length of your training schedule: 16 weeks
This week’s game plan.
| Wk | Dat | Mon | Tues | Weds | Thurs | Fri | Sat | Sun | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Easy Run Dist: 6 mi @8:53 |

Long Run Dist: 10 mi @8:53 |
21 miles |
I just feel better already having a plan.
Writing down what I must accomplish. And accomplish for a reason! I don’t know if I’ll ever be one of those people that just runs, especially longer distances, just for the heck of it. There are so many distractions and excuses, but if I have a training plan and a race that I must be ready for…… all of that other stuff feels much easier to put on the back burner. It allows me to have the EXCUSE to GO RUN!
Not all excuses are bad I guess.
So how about you? Can you survive without a game plan? Do you do better when you have a goal in mind? What keeps you motivated and not falling to those lame excuses (not the good ones)?
Have a great night!
Britt
