Little weekend hiatus….

That seems to happen on occasion.  My apologies.  It was a great weekend though…. despite it involving yard work. I volunteered at a half marathon and was able to cheer on my mom, Elizabeth & Artie and a few other friends!!  I highly recommend volunteering for a race sometime, its lots of fun and the runners are so appreciative.

It has been a LONG Monday, but I managed to squeeze in some “me” time despite being busy.

This morning I was back to KETTLEBELL!!  Yay!!

WORKOUT

-30 seconds each side (or 1 minute alternating sides), then rest 30 seconds, repeat entire workout 3 times

  • Presses
  • Snatches
  • Goblet Squat
  • Get Up Sit Up
  • Dead Clean
  • Figure 8 to a Hold
  • Super Plank w/ Push Up (these were killer! but I did all regular push ups!)

After class it was home to shower up, throw together breakfast & lunch, then head to work.

BREAKFAST- yes more oats…. with almond butter, pumpkin butter, walnuts and ground flax

I also enjoyed a little pumpkin spice coffee…. yes I’m embracing fall, especially when fall brings WARM temperatures!  It was absolutely gorgeous outside today.  I took note this morning when I was getting ready and packed some running clothes.  I headed out for a quick 3 mile run.  There was a beautiful breeze, the sun was shining and I was wearing shorts & a t-shirt…. I’ll take this kind of weather in NH in November!!

Actually could I please an order for a repeat on my birthday??  November 17th please and thank you.  ;-)

That is one of the things that irks me, the weather in NH and most of New England is usually AWFUL in November.  I loved when I lived in New Orleans, November was my favorite month there!  The weather was gorgeous, the humidity seemed to lessen, hurricane season was pretty much over (although clearly they can still crop up, go away Ida!).

Any how….. after my run, I had a random lunch.  I was trying to use up items in the fridge that would go bad soon if I didn’t use them.

LUNCH- leftovers!  brown rice, turnips, swiss chard and little pork

Plus a salad, the field greens from our CSA are amazing!!!!  They were joined by tomato, gorganzola, dried cranberries and walnuts with TJ’s balsamic vinaigrette.

Work tempted me a bit and I had a little leftover Halloween candy.  I figure though, it really was the only candy I had….. which is ok because for Halloween weekend I was running marathon.  ;-)

After work I tried to get caught up on a few things at home before my school board meeting.  Also grabbed part of my dinner.

DINNER- Part 1, Butternut Squash Soup w/ provolone

Then it was off to my meeting.  As usual it was a long one…. 6pm to 10pm.  Ack!  I am greatly looking forward to when my term ends.  Its been great, but I have other things I’d like to focus on…. instead of spending 4 hours in one of those meetings.

I came home and had dinner Part 2.  Is it bad that I dreamed about it during my meeting?

DINNER, Part 2 – greek yogurt, Kashi Vanilla Island, almond butter  (mmm…. good)

Ahh…. much better.  Now to get caught up on reading some blogs. So jealous of all the bloggers that went to the Food Buzz Blogger Festival. I have been out to CA but only to LA and Newport Beach, never to San Francisco or wine country….. some day….

What is your dream vacation??  My true dream trip is going back to Italy, I went backpacking there after college but would love to go there with my hubby.  Florence, Cinque Terre, the Tuscan countryside…..  ahh… sounds lovley huh?

Hope your week is off to a great start!  I am so happy to be running & kettlebelling again and feeling great!

Have a great night!

Britt

Hey hey! Sometimes its nice to take a blogging break :) I read blogs this weekend but didn’t write any of my own posts. It was a welcomed break! Glad you got in kettlebell and a run- how fabulous. Your lunchy salad looks AWESOME. A great combination of flavors. Hope the rest of the week is warm and relaxing :)

  2. I’m dying to go back to Ireland with my husband. I went in college, but I don’t think I fully appreciated the experience. I have family there that I’d love to meet.

I also hate weather in the Northeast from about Nov – early March. Being a runner in the NE is particularly hard. My issue at the moment is finding daylight hours for running. The morning is too dark and after work is too dark!! Weekends are great, but not enough. The treadmill is quickly becoming my foe.

Yes, we have good running weather in NOLA in November, but summer is misery! This summer I wondered why my morning runs were so slow and I felt so awful afterwords…until I saw that the temp in the park was a record breaking 104! Temperature, not heat index! I’m think today I’ll wait until Ida’s winds die down before I venture out.
